What is a reaction time test?

A reaction time test measures how quickly you respond to a visual cue. The most common variant: a box turns red, you wait, it turns green, you click as fast as you can. Your time in milliseconds is your score.

The average human reaction time is around 250ms. Trained gamers and athletes can hit 200-220ms. Anything under 200ms is genuinely elite - if it's real and not from a fast monitor or predictable timing.

Reaction time is influenced by age, focus, fatigue, and what you're doing. Your score will be slower late at night, faster when you're fresh. Take the test a few times before drawing conclusions.

What is a click speed (CPS) test?

A click speed test measures how many times you can click a button in a fixed window - usually 1, 5, 10, or 30 seconds. The result is reported as CPS (clicks per second). The average adult scores 6-9 CPS; trained clickers and competitive gamers hit 12-16 CPS using techniques like jitter clicking.

CPS tests are popular for two reasons: they're an honest measure of pure clicking speed (no reaction-time component), and they map directly to fast-paced games like Minecraft PvP, Valorant, and OSU. The 1-second test measures peak burst speed; the 30-second test exposes how long you can sustain that pace.

Use the click speed test to find your baseline, then track your CPS over a few weeks of practice. Most people gain 1-2 CPS in a month of daily testing.

What is a typing speed (WPM) test?

A typing speed test measures how fast you can transcribe a passage of text, reported as WPM (words per minute). One word is defined as five characters, so a typist hitting 50 correct characters in 30 seconds scores 20 WPM. The average adult types around 40 WPM; professional typists hit 60-80 WPM; competitive typists on Monkeytype reach 100-150 WPM.

Good typing speed comes from muscle memory, not finger speed. Touch typing with all 10 fingers typically doubles a hunt-and-peck typist's WPM within a month. Most of the words you'll ever type are the same ~200 common English words, so drills on those words build finger memory faster than random text.

What is an aim trainer?

An aim trainer is a target-clicking drill that measures three things at once: how fast you can react to a target appearing, how accurately you can land on a small target, and how well you sustain that pace over 30 or 60 seconds. The composite score rewards both speed and accuracy - spam-clicking the whole area is penalized by the accuracy component.

Aim trainers like Aim Lab and KovaaK are core warm-up tools for FPS players (Valorant, CS2, Apex). This aim trainer is a simpler implementation: targets spawn at random positions and sizes, you have 1.5 seconds to hit each one, and your final score is hits multiplied by accuracy. Average is 40-60 hits in 30 seconds; elite players (top KovaaK/Aim Lab users) hit 80-110.

FAQ

What is a good reaction time?
Under 200ms is elite. 200-250ms is fast. 250-320ms is average for an untrained adult. Over 320ms is slow - common if you're tired or distracted.
Can I get a faster score with tricks?
Cheating methods exist (predicting timing, using macros, modifying the page) but they don't measure real reaction time. Use the test as a fun benchmark, not a serious claim.
Is my data saved?
Your best score is stored in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to a server. Clearing your browser data resets your best.
Why do my scores vary so much?
Reaction time fluctuates based on focus, fatigue, time of day, and the last trial. That's normal. The 5-trial average smooths out the noise.
Does monitor refresh rate matter?
Yes, slightly. A 60Hz monitor adds 0-16ms of input lag. A 144Hz+ monitor reduces this. High refresh rate helps but doesn't make you faster - it just removes a bottleneck.
